You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind. this is the greatest and first commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
These words spoken by Jesus in Matthew’s Gospel, are as relevant today as they were when they were first recorded. As Christians, we are called to love God and all people as ourselves.
At the Gathering our purpose is simple. LOVE GOD. LOVE PEOPLE.
To live out this way of life, we choose to “GATHER, GROW, and GO”.
GATHER
Since the early days of the church, Christians have gathered together with a common purpose. Like those early Christians, we seek to live out our faith in community by gathering to:
Experience the inclusive and transforming love of God
Pray and worship
Contemplate the powerful and life-changing message of Christ
Participate in communion
Share in life through community groups
GROW
Our desire is to grow in faith, understanding, and love to be more like Christ. We don’t grow to earn God’s love–we grow because of God’s love.
GO
The purpose of gathering and growing is simple: to equip and empower us to share the Kingdom of Christ with all.
Talk is cheap and the world has heard it all. As Christians, we need to display the love of Christ in both our attitudes and our actions.
Serving is often seen as something that missionaries do in distant countries. But we are also called to serve Christ in our local communities by finding our passion and using our abilities to share God’s love with people in our workplaces, neighborhoods, and communities.
To bring Jesus to our world, we need to be Jesus to our world.
